Film plot and background
Black comedy starring Javier Bardem as an entrepreneur who aims for a special prize but causes chaos while trying to please all the employees.
Julio Blanco (Javier Bardem) has built a family business with a lot of dedication and the necessary sense for his employees to come out on top. In the eyes of his staff, he is known as competent, charismatic and caring – all around: the perfect boss.
This is not only good for the working atmosphere, but is also reflected in the turnover. He has already been showered with numerous awards for his work and that of his team, but one is still missing. This year, it should finally be enough for the prize for the excellent management of the government.
Shortly before the goal, however, the perfect façade begins to crumble. A fired employee protests right in front of the company, the new intern falls in love with him and a depressed production manager struggles with marital problems that affect his work. Julio tries every means to nip the problems in the bud so as not to lose the award. He only has a few days to save the image, but in the process he loses sight of his distinguishing qualities and crosses moral boundaries.
