2014 saw the release of the last part of Peter Jackson’s “Hobbit” trilogy. Since then, many fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting further stories from the world of Tolkien’s Middle Earth. Before the start of the first season of the new series “The Rings of Power”, the anticipation, but also the expectations are correspondingly high. The plot will take place thousands of years before the events of the two well-known film trilogies. In the so-called second age of Middle-earth, the focus is on the first battle against the evil ruler Sauron and the creation of the powerful rings. This means that the audience will have to adjust to many new characters. So those who only want more of the old familiar might be disappointed. What will remain, however, are the impressive film sets: vast landscapes, monumental buildings and fantastic creatures. But will fans also be able to marvel at these on Netflix?
The “Lord of the Rings” series has been eagerly awaited since it was announced. Now the official teaser trailer is getting fans in the mood for “The Rings of Power”:
Will “The Rings of Power” be on Netflix?
Amazon has secured the rights to the material and is also spending a record sum on the production: The planned five seasons of the project are expected to cost over one billion US dollars. No TV production has ever been so expensive. The first season will contain eight episodes. It is planned that these will be released in a weekly rhythm and will therefore not be immediately available in their entirety.
With such high sums, it is understandable that the series will also run exclusively on the in-house streaming service Amazon Prime Video. For this reason, fans will not be able to watch the series on Netflix. So if you want to stream “The Rings of Power” legally, you will definitely have to take out a subscription. To get a first glimpse, a short-term trial subscription might be a solution.
