Many years ago, Son Goku (Tommy Morgenstern) succeeded in taking out the Red Ribbon Army. But sympathisers of the army have since created powerful cyborgs called Gamma 1 (Fabian Oscar Wien) and Gamma 2 (Patrick Keller). They appear in public as superheroes. What could their goal be?

Son Gohan (Robin Kahnmeyer) and Piccolo (Felix Spieß) have to arm themselves for a new battle. They may also receive support from the other Z-warriors around Son Goku, Vegeta (Oliver Siebeck), Krillin (Wanja Gerick), Son Goten (Marcel Mann), Trunks (Sebastian Kluckert) and Son Gohan’s little daughter Pan (Shanti Chakraborty), who already proves her immense powers when she is a toddler.

“Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” background, cast, theatrical release

Four years after the release of the last anime film in the “Dragon Ball” series, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly”, anime fans can expect a new adventure for the big screen, once again written by “Dragon Ball” creator Akira Toriyama. This time, the focus is not only on the Saiyans around Son Goku, Vegeta and Broly, but also on old adversaries arming themselves for a fight against the Z-Warriors. Whether the Red Ribbon Army with the new cyborgs Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 will succeed in giving the Z-Warriors a run for their money will be revealed in cinemas in the summer of 2022.

The German cinema release of “Dragon Ball Super: Super Heros” is on 30 August 2022, anime fans can look forward to the cinema release in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It is certain that both the original Japanese version with subtitles (with the voices of Masako Nozawa and Toshio Furukawa) and the German dubbed version (with Tommy Morgenstern as Son Goku) will be heard. One voice has been recast: it is no longer David Nathan who speaks Piccolo, but now Felix Spieß. If you look at the other dubbing actors such as Gerrit Schmidt-Foß, Diana Simone Borgwaldt and Stefan Gossler, you will notice that the old voice of villain Cell from the “Dragon Ball Z” series is also in the film. Could the Z warriors be meeting a new variant of Cell? The latest film will be released in Japan on 11 June 2022.

“Super Hero” is the second feature film in the “Dragon Ball Super” continuity after “Broly”, anchored after the battle against Boo but before the epilogue from “Dragon Ball Z”. It is the 21st film in the series overall, though many just take place outside the canon.
