Film plot and background
Horror film by Jordan Peele in which terrible things happen to a brother and sister on a remote ranch.
The Hayward horse ranch in California has been in the Haywood family for decades. The two siblings OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and Emerald (Keke Palmer) live there isolated from the rest of the world. There they keep horses that appear in Hollywood films. After the unexpected death of their father, however, business is slow. Together with the former child star Ricky “Jupe” Park (Steven Yeun) from a neighbouring ranch, they therefore hope for a good deal.
When a gruesome weather phenomenon is discovered on the horizon, the animals suddenly act like wild animals. Shocking phenomena multiply that no one can make sense of. They cannot yet suspect that this is only a harbinger of even worse things to come on their farm. Their eyes turn to the sky in terror.
The mysterious trailer gives you a first impression of “Nope”:
“Nope” – background, cast, theatrical release
With “Get Out” and “We”, director and screenwriter Jordan Peele revolutionised the horror genre anew and was able to secure an Oscar for the socially critical as well as clever screenplay of “Get Out”. “Nope” is the third film in which black protagonists will fight for their lives. The sparse information and the first trailer, which was released during the 2022 Super Bowl, leads fans to assume that the acronym “Not of Planet Earth” could be behind “NOPE”. Will Jordan Peele’s third directorial effort feature aliens?
Starring Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (“Get Out”) and Keke Palmer (“Hustlers”). Other stars such as Steven Yeun (“Minari”) as well as Michael Wincott (“Hitchcock”) and Brandon Perea (“The OA”) are also in the cast.
