Fourth MCU solo appearance starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman
The Norse god Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to screens for a fourth solo appearance. After last losing his home in Thor 3: Judgment Day and successfully battling Thanos in the ensemble films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, a new Asgard has been established in Norway. Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) is in charge of this realm, while Thor went into space together with the Guardians of the Galaxy around Starlord (Chris Pratt) and Rocket.
In the fourth solo appearance, Thor will meet his ex-love Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who even becomes Mighty Thor himself in this spin-off. A first taste of the meeting of the two, offers the teaser trailer:

Director Taika Waititi surprised fans of the MCU films with an unusual statement. “Thor 4” is a crazy romance, he revealed in the summer of 2020. The director has already directed “Thor 3” and thus brought more humour into the “Thor” films. With the fourth solo adventure, it is supposed to be “bigger and louder and even more bombastic” than before.
What is certain is that Waititi wants to unite a lot. The romance approach doesn’t necessarily have to rely on Thor and Jane, who were a couple in past MCU films. Instead, as an openly bisexual character, Valkyrie is looking for a queen for her upcoming duties in the new Asgard. Could she find her in Lady Sif or perhaps Jane Foster?
Waititi also presented Natalie Portman with the hammer Mjölnir in a symbolic gesture at Comic Con 2019. In the comics “The Mighty Thor” by Jason Aaron, Jane Foster was seen as the first female Thor superhero. As an important part of her story there, Jane Foster was diagnosed with breast cancer before she proved herself worthy to carry the hammer. Waititi already confirmed that he found this storyline very interesting but did not know how best to fit it into his film.

In addition to superstars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson, fans can look forward to the signing of Christian Bale as the antagonist. The “Dark Knight” actor admitted in the past that he is not the biggest fan of comic book adaptations, but his fans were all the more delighted about his commitment to the 29th MCU film. In “Thor: Love and Thunder” he embodies “Gorr, the God Butcher”, a villain who makes it his mission to kill all gods.
Not only behind but also in front of the camera is Taika Waititi himself as Korg, about whom the audience will learn details about his origins. Of course, a worm-like friend Miek is not far behind. The icing on the cake is the return of the “Asguardians of the Galaxy”. Star-Lord, Nebula, Drax, Rocket and Groot are all in on the action. We can also look forward to Kraglin: actor Sean Gunn has already been spotted in the corresponding outfit during filming in Australia. The Guardians will not embark on their third solo adventure until one year later in 2023.
