“Downton Abbey 2” – plot
After the residents* of Downton Abbey were last in turmoil when the king announced his visit, a film shoot threatens to throw the estate into chaos. While Mary (Michelle Dockery) lends a hand to the director and producer (Hugh Dancy) and makes sure that the film crew and the two stars (Laura Haddock and Dominic West) don’t wreck everything, other family members leave for the south of France.
Long ago, Dowager Countess Lady Violet (Maggie Smith) met a man who, years later, now bequeaths her a villa in the South of France. Robert (Hugh Bonneville), Cora (Elizabeth McGovern), Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), Bertie (Harry Haddon-Paton) and the newlyweds Tom Branson (Allen Leech) and Lucy Smith (Tuppence Middleton) set off on a journey together to discover the secrets of the head of the family. Accompanying them are Mr Carson (Jim Carter), Mr Bates (Brendan Coyle) and Miss Baxter (Raquel Cassidy).

The servants of the Crawley household around the cast such as Jim Carter (Mr Carson), Phyllis Logan (Mrs Hughes), Lesley Nicol (Mrs Patmore), Sophia McShera (Daisy), Michael Fox (Andy), Robert James-Collier (Thomas Barrow), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates), Brendan Coyle (Mr Bates), Kevin Doyle (Mr Molesley) and Raquel Cassidy (Miss Baxter) will, of course, also be in attendance.

Moviegoers will have to wait a few months longer: Instead of the reunion at Christmas 2021, you can see “Downton Abbey 2” in cinemas on 28 April 2022.
Filming will take place under strict hygiene conditions under the direction of Simon Curtis from April to August 2021 in Great Britain and France.
