Their reputation is already bad, so why not live the high life as gangsters? With mastermind Mr. Wolf (Sebastian Bezzel), safecracker Mr. Snake (Kurt Krömer), master of transformation Mr. Shark (Fynn Kliemann), man for the rough Mr. Piranha (Jannis Niewöhner) and hacker Ms. Tarantula (Joyce Ilg), the “Gangster Gang” has already celebrated some successes.
After a spectacular robbery, however, the gang of criminals ends up behind bars and vows to brag about good deeds from now on. Professor Marmelade (Max Giermann) promises them help. But the change from evil to good is not the only danger. A new villain makes the city unsafe, and no one knows his tricks better than the Gangster Gang.

With anthropomorphic characters, DreamWorks Animation’s forge knows its stuff. Titles like “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” celebrated great successes. In 2022, a new troupe awaits animation fans young and old: “The Gangster Gang”. The story is based on the novel series of the same name “The Bad Guys” by Aaron Blabey, which has been available in stores since 2016.
In the original, stars such as Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missour”), Awkwafina (“Ocean’s 8”), Anthony Ramos (“In The Heights”), Marc Maron (“GLOW”), Craig Robinson (“This is the End”) and Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”) lend their voices to the animals. In Germany, the cast of “The Gangster Gang” is just as top-class. With them are: Sebastian Bezzel (Eberhofer series), Jannis Niewöhner (“Je Suis Karl”), Joyce Ilg (“Binge Reloaded”), Fynn Kliemann (“Das Hausboot”) as well as Kurt Krömer and Max Giermann (both “LOL – Last One Laughing”).
The theatrical release of “Die Gangster-Gang” is on 17 March 2022. The FSK release rated the film from 6 years.
French director Pierre Perifel has already worked for DreamWorks on films such as “The Keepers of the Light” and the “Kung Fu Panda” films. “The Gangster Gang” marks his directorial debut. The screenplay was adapted by Etan Cohen (“Tropic Thunder”) and Hilary Winston (“Community”).
