Qu’est-ce qu’on a tous fait au Bon Dieu?: Third installment in the popular “Monsieur Claude” series starring Christian Clavier, whose Monsieur Claude looks askance at his daughters’ marriages
Film plot and background
Third part of the popular “Monsieur Claude” series with Christian Clavier, whose Monsieur Claude looks with suspicion on the marriages of his daughters.
Prejudice is nothing new in the life of Monsieur Claude (Christian Clavier). With his wife Marie Verneuil (Chantal Lauby), he has four daughters and, along with them, four sons-in-law, all of whom belong to different religions.
At family celebrations, he has therefore so far avoided contact with his sons-in-law consisting of Chao (Frédéric Chau), the Jew David (Ary Abittan) and the Muslims Rachid (Medi Sadoun) and Charles (Noom Diawara) – much to the chagrin of his four daughters Odile (Julia Piaton), Isabelle (Frédérique Bel), Ségolène (Émilie Caen) and nestling Laure (Élodie Fontan).
After some turbulent family celebrations and an equally crazy trip around the world to visit the young married couple in their respective new homes, Claude and Marie’s 40th wedding anniversary is now upon them. The daughters are planning a big surprise party right on their parents’ estate in Chinon. However, the fact that the sons-in-law are all to live under one roof for the preparations and celebration, and that even their parents are to travel for the festivities, will soon cause all kinds of chaos.
“Monsieur Claude and His Great Feast” – background, cast, cinema release
For the third time, the large ensemble around Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby come together to show the eventful life of the Verneuil family clan with biting humour and off-culture jokes.
Monsieur Claude and His Daughters” was a surprise hit at the box office back in 2014, the second part “Monsieur Claude 2” followed in 2019. Filming for the third part “Monsieur Claude and His Great Feast” had to be corrected backwards due to the ongoing corona pandemic. The comedy was already supposed to be released in France in autumn 2021, but now it can be seen in cinemas there from 2 February 2022. The German theatrical release of “Monsieur Claude and His Great Feast” is 21 July 2022.
Nothing changes in front of or behind the camera. The cast around Christian Clavier returns once again. Director Philippe de Chauveron is also responsible for the third part of the comedy series. This time he contributed the screenplay alone.
