Welcome to Siegheilkirchen – The Deix Film: Biographical animated film about the caricaturist Manfred Deix.
Film plot and background
Biographical animated film about the caricaturist Manfred Deix.
In the arch-conservative village of Siegheilkirchen lives the little boy (Markus Freistätter), only called Rotzbub by everyone. The year is 1967 and the old-established inhabitants are not only obese but also Nazis. While Rotzbub discovered his talent for drawing at an early age and wants to earn some extra money, his pictures meet with approval on one side, but are called lewd by the others.
The snotty boy mostly draws nude cartoons of the butcher’s assistant, which he gets rid of as flipbooks among his classmates. When Roma move into the village, not only is cultural life turned upside down, the snotty boy falls for the pretty Mariolina (Gerti Drassl) and has to continue to justify his drawing style to everyone.
