Real horror in the MCU at last? Trailer for the Marvel Halloween Special

by Dennis

In November 2023, the Daywalker played by Mahershala Ali will make his MCU debut in “Blade”. But before vampires, Marvel fans can look forward to the “Werewolf By Night” (played by Gael García Bernal) – just in time for Halloween:

While Marvel announces the big MCU series and films many months and years in advance and presents the first trailer at least a few months before launch, things are apparently a little different with the specials produced for Disney+. Already with “I am Groot” there was less than a month between trailer and release.

And now it’s the same with “Werewolf By Night”, which will be released on Disney+ on 7 October 2022 – just in time for Halloween – and has only now been given a first preview or even officially announced. And it doesn’t just come in old-school horror movie garb, but has quite a bit going for it in terms of creepiness and violence, especially for the MCU.

THIS IS “WEREWOLF BY NIGHT “

Werewolf By Night is about the titular character from the Marvel comics, but there are two different versions of him: Jake Russell and Jake Gomez. Both can – who would have thought it? – into a werewolf.

The main role in “Werewolf By Night” is played by Gael García Bernal (“Amores Perros”), and Laura Donnelly (“The Nevers”) has also been signed on – possibly as monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone.

The director of the Halloween special is also interesting, because many will know his name: Michael Giacchino is otherwise more famous as a composer and was awarded an Oscar for the score to “Upstairs”.

When and how the Marvel werewolf will next be seen in the MCU has not yet been determined, but an obvious candidate would be the already announced “Blade” film with Mahershala Ali, which will be released in German cinemas on 1 November 2023.
