“Dog” – background, cast, theatrical release
Channing Tatum’s directorial debut “Dog” sees the superstar in a buddy movie of a different kind. Together with Reid Carolin (producer of the “Magic Mike” films”), the actor directs the work about a former army rancher and a traumatised dog whose master stepped out of life. The duo is also responsible for the script.
It’s no coincidence that the dog in the film is named Lulu, like Tatum’s late dog, who passed from life in December 2018. Tatum and Reid fought for more than two years for the production, and the first take fell in September 2020. Although Channing Tatum didn’t actually want to get a new dog, he walked out of the finished production with a new puppy named Rook.
In addition to Tatum in the lead role, Luke Forbes (“S.W.A.T.”), Ethan Suplee (“Mallrats”) and Kevin Nash (“Magic Mike XXL”) are also in the cast.
Dog” has already been in cinemas in the USA since February 2022, and the heartwarming buddy film will be released in Germany on 19 May 2022, with an age rating of 12 years.
