Film plot and background
Romantic romantic comedy starring Elyas M’Barek who mimes a movie star and goes into hiding from the public.
Marvin Bosch (Elyas M’Barek) is used to flashbulbs, screams and the red carpet. As probably the best-known film star in German cinema, a cinema premiere has him waiting until the screening is allowed to begin. On this day, however, things went wrong.
At the press appointment with tabloid reporter Bettina Bamberger (Alexandra Maria Lara), some unpleasant details came to light and Marvin preferred to flee from glamour, champagne and his fans instead of exposing himself. His refuge is the off-theatre “3000”, which is run by feminist Frieda (Lucie Heinze). However, she has to face the facts that the financial ruin of her cultural institution is imminent. Could Marvin help her out of the dicey situation? And will the star succeed in straightening out his reputation? Are sparks also flying between the disparate performers?
“Love Thing” – background, cast, cinema release
Her first film already set the box office ringing: Director Anika Decker was co-responsible for the screenplay of “Keinohrhasen” in 2007, and in her first directorial effort “Traumfrauen” (2015) she worked with German cinema stars Elyas M’Barek and Karoline Herfurth. The first film to emerge from her exclusive contract with Constantin Film is “Liebesdings” and once again features Elyas M’Barek (“Fack Ju Göhte”) in the leading role.
The female lead of the down-to-earth Frieda is played by Lucie Heinze (“Mein Sohn”), while stars such as Alexandra Maria Lara, Peri Baumeister and Anton Weil take on other roles. Guest appearances await us in “Liebesdings” by Rick Kavanian, Denis Moschitto, Jochen Schropp and Steven Gätjen, who will pester the stars with questions as an interviewer on the Red Carpet.
If the cinema release was planned for early 2022, the distributor had to react to the ongoing corona pandemic. “Love Thing” will be released in German cinemas on 7 July 2022.
