Verdens verste menneske: Melancholic romantic comedy in which a woman with no desire to have children goes in search of herself.
Film plot and background
Melancholic romantic comedy in which a woman with no desire to have children embarks on a search for herself.
In her early 30s, Julie (Renate Reinsve) is still divided about what to do with her life. Does she want to study medicine, would she rather work as a psychiatrist or become a photographer? She also mostly follows her first instinct when it comes to love life, which initially leads her into a relationship with Aksel (Anders Danielsen Lie). While he wants children, Julie struggles with the idea of ever having children.
Aksel soon celebrates greater success as a comic artist. Julie is caught in a rut and tries her hand at blogging. At a party Julie meets Eivind (Herbert Nordrum), who is in a relationship himself. Although nothing happens between them at the party and they swear not to see each other again, Julie can’t let go of the night. She realises that things are not going well between her and Aksel. After a chance encounter with Eivind, she gives new love a chance – and is brought back down to earth again after a year. It’s up to her to reconcile her desires and ideas about life with reality.
