In the fourth episode of “Andor” on Disney+, an imperial security officer appears whose actor might be familiar to series fans, but not familiar enough to immediately assign him. This is Anton Lesser from “Game Of Thrones”.
“Game Of Thrones” is full of actors who fans will probably forever associate with the respective characters they played in the fantasy series. Who doesn’t think of Tyrion Lannister when they think of Peter Dinklage, Arya Stark when they think of Maisie Williams or Daenerys Targaryen when they think of Emilia Clarke? But in addition to this A-list of “GoT” stars, Westeros is also teeming with countless sometimes more sometimes less important supporting characters whose faces are also burned into the subconscious, but are no longer quite so present. A “GoT” star from the second series now appears in the “Star Wars” series “Andor”.
I had to ponder quite a bit when I saw the as yet nameless imperial security officer introduced in episode 4…
“Why does he look so familiar?”, I thought to myself, and was so busy with my thoughts that I forgot to pay attention to what was happening in the Disney+ series. But then it clicked! Isn’t that Qyburn from “Game Of Thrones”? And indeed: actor Anton Lesser, who was a recurring cast member of “GoT” from season 3 to 8, also stars in the “Star Wars” series.
For me personally, Qyburn, who is basically a Westeros variant of Dr. Frankenstein, is one of the most fascinating side characters of “Game Of Thrones” and that is why I am very happy to see Anton Lesser again in “Andor”.
And if you haven’t seen “GoT” and he still looks familiar? Then you may have seen him in season 2 of the Netflix hit “The Crown”, where he played the British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. Or you may even remember his heavily made-up appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 as Lord Carteret. Fans of the British crime series “Young Inspector Morse” should definitely know Anton Lesser. He has been playing the head of the police department in the series for eight seasons.

WHO IS ANTON LESSER’S CHARACTER IN “STAR WARS”?
Unfortunately, episode 4 doesn’t reveal too much about Anton Lesser’s “Andor” character. Not even their name is known. At least we know that he works in a senior position at the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), an agency created by Emperor Palpatine to maintain the stability of his new galactic order. It performs intelligence duties, detects threats to the Empire and prosecutes crimes.
He is also the superior of Dedra Meero (Denise Gough), an ambitious young imperialist who will probably play a bigger role in the course of the series. After all, she has already featured quite prominently in the trailers. Whether we will see more of Anton Lesser or whether it will remain with the one-time guest appearance is still questionable.
