When the first season of “Shadow And Bone – Legends Of Grisha” started on Netflix in April 2021, it immediately mutated into a global hit. Now the streaming service has finally released a first teaser trailer for the new episodes:
There is good and not so good news for all fans of “Shadow And Bone – Legends Of Grisha”: The bad news first: The second season of the fantasy hit will not start until 2023 on Netflix.
However, all episodes have already been shot and are in the unfortunately very time-consuming post-production phase. After all, the eight new episodes should look at least as good as those of the first season. Directed twice each by Bola Ogun (“Raising Dion”), Laura Belsey (“The Walking Dead”, “Arrow”), Karen Gaviola (“Lucifer”, “Grimm”) as well as Mairzee Almas (“The Sandman”, “Locke & Key”).
And now for the good news: Readers of the book templates – “The Legends of Grisha”, “The Crow Saga” and “King Of Scars/Rule Of Wolves” – by US author Leigh Bardugo can especially look forward to the second season of the Netflix series “Shadow And Bone”. Four new characters will be added, including the absolute fan favourites Wylan and Nikolai.
The highly intelligent and inventive Wylan is played by Jack Wolfe (“The Magic Flute”), while Patrick Gibson from the biopic “Tolkien” takes over the part of the initially somewhat obscure Nikolai.
Also new to the cast of the series are Anna Leong Brophy (“Traces”) and “Mortal Kombat” star Lewis Tan. They portray the powerful brother-sister team Tamar and Tolya. The two join our protagonist, Sun Warrior Alina (Jessie Mei Li), in her fight for good and against the Shadow Summoners.
WHAT HAPPENS IN SEASON 2 OF “SHADOW AND BONE” ON NETFLIX?
The teaser trailer that can be seen at the beginning unfortunately does not say too much about the plot of the second season due to its brevity. But at least it shows the already known main characters, embodied by Jessie Mei Li, Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Kit Young and Amita Suman, as well as all four new characters briefly in action.
If you can’t wait any longer and absolutely have to know what happens next, you can order the novels, which have also been published in German. Or you can watch the video by our FILMSTARTS colleague Sebastian Gerdshikow.
