Netflix has released the official trailer for My Father’s Dragon, its upcoming animated fantasy film adaptation of Ruth Stiles Gannett’s award-winning 1948 children’s book of the same name.
The video highlights the friendship between a runaway kid named Elmer and a young dragon named Boris as they go on an adventure of a lifetime to save Wilde Island. It is scheduled to make its debut on November 11.
My Father’s Dragon is directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner) from a screenplay written by Meg LeFauve, based on a story she co-wrote with John Morgan. The film features the voices of Jacob Tremblay, Gaten Matarazzo, Whoopi Goldberg, Ian McShane, Golshifteh Farahani, Dianne Wiest, Yara Shahidi, Charlyne Yi, Judy Greer, Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, and more.
“Struggling to cope after a move to the city with his mother, Elmer runs away in search of Wild Island and a young dragon who waits to be rescued,” reads the synopsis. “Elmer’s adventures introduce him to ferocious beasts, a mysterious island, and the friendship of a lifetime.”
