Who is the HulkKing? The twist at the end of “She-Hulk” episode 7 explained

by Mike

Episode 7 of the Marvel series “She-Hulk” ends with a nasty revelation that has been hinted at more and more throughout the episode: Josh was just using Jen to get her blood! But who is really behind the action and the name HulkKing?

Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) is really not to be envied: Her superpowers do give her some advantages, but “She-Hulk: The Lawyer” on Disney+ is more about the problems such abilities bring. It’s one thing for a She-Hulk to attract all kinds of slimy guys who aren’t even interested in Jen herself. But with Josh (Trevor Salter) her love life has suffered a real low blow. The current episode 7 of the Marvel series is about Jen and Josh getting closer romantically at first, but then he dumps her after the first sex and ghosted her afterwards. The real reason behind this, however, is only revealed at the end…

THE TWIST AT THE END OF “SHE-HULK” EPISODE 7

Much of the episode revolves around Jen learning to accept that Josh has actually ghosted her, thus completely ignoring her and no longer responding to her messages. After an involuntary stay at the retreat of her former client Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), she finally comes to the realisation that she has to let go of Josh. She even goes so far as to delete his number from her mobile phone. But unfortunately, the brief fling with Josh will still have major consequences that can’t be erased so easily with the touch of a screen.

At the end of episode 7, Josh’s true intention is revealed. Not only does he copy the contents of Jen’s mobile phone onto his own, but he also takes a picture of his sleeping victim. In the end, the photo probably only serves as proof of his crime and what exactly Josh will do with the copied data is not yet entirely clear. But that was probably just a small side errand anyway. Because as he tells a contact with the username HulkKing on the basis of emojis, he also took a blood sample from the sleeping Jen.

and succeeds!

and succeeds!

We remember: Already in episode 3 Jen was attacked by a group of brutal thugs, the so-called Wrecking Crew (their leader Wrecker meets Jen again in the Blonsky retreat). They also wanted She-Hulk’s blood. But a simple syringe won’t pierce a Hulk’s skin, so another way had to be found. Josh found such a way. He ensnared the unknowable until she trusted him. Then, in her Jen form, it was easy to draw her blood.

WHO IS THE HULKKING IN THE MCU?

The HulkKing is the operator of a website called Intelligencia, where She-Hulk-haters exchange ideas, rant against the green superwoman and sometimes even call for her to be killed. He apparently uses the site to recruit people to do his dirty work for him, i.e. to get him She-Hulk’s blood. It is quite possible that this is how he made contact with the Wrecking Crew and Josh. However, HulkKing does not seem to be interested in Jennifer Walters’ death (yet). Otherwise he would have asked Josh to kill her after taking her blood.

The true identity of HulkKing is still a secret, yet we have a strong suspicion that HulkKing could be Todd (Jon Bass). The creep, who claims to be very rich, first appeared on a date with She-Hulk, asking strangely specific questions about the texture of her skin, such as whether she could be pierced with vibranium.

The fact that he later showed up at Jen’s law firm and turned out to be a client of her colleague Mallory only makes him more suspicious. There are also a number of other clues and alleged screenshots circulating on the net. But is Todd really also the head of the Intelligencia or is there more to it? A look at Marvel Comics suggests the latter.

Is Todd (Jon Bass)

Is Todd (Jon Bass)

The Intelligencia is much more than just a blog for She-Hulk haters in the comics, namely a secret supervillain organisation founded by the Leader. The Leader is actually Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), who we last saw in the MCU in The Incredible Hulk and who has already been confirmed for Captain America 4. Like the Hulk and Abomination, the villain was exposed to gamma radiation. However, it mainly caused him to mutate his brain and become super intelligent.

What’s also interesting in the context of the current MCU series is that the Intelligencia in the comics also created the Red Hulk and Red She-Hulk. Are we going to get a fight between She-Hulk and her red counterpart in the finale? After her defeat in episode 6, Titania (Jameela Jamil) would certainly offer herself as a guinea pig to get revenge on Jennifer. Could she possibly become the red she-hulk?
