With “The Watcher”, the next series by the “Dahmer” creators will be released on Netflix on 13 October. In this case, too, Ryan Murphy and Co. have based themselves on a true story. The German trailer is here:
Ryan Murphy is not only one of the most influential producers of our time, but also one of the most active. His cooperation with Netflix in particular proves this time and again. After “Hollywood”, “The Politician” and “Ratched”, Murphy was even responsible for one of the most successful series in the history of the streaming service with “Dahmer – Monster” just a few weeks ago. Now his next format, “The Watcher”, is just around the corner – and once again it deals with a true story.
“The Watcher” starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale will be available on Netflix from 13 October 2022.
THIS IS “THE WATCHER “
The plot of “The Watcher” centres on married couple Nora (Naomi Watts) and Dean Brannock (Bobby Cannavale), who have just purchased their dream home in idyllic Westfield, a suburb of New Jersey. After their entire savings have been poured into the home, the couple’s euphoria visibly changes. Nora and Dean notice that the neighbourhood is not exactly friendly towards them, which is not only due to the strange elderly woman Pearl (Mia Farrow), but also to her brother Jasper (Terry Kinney), who likes to sneak into the new neighbours’ house and hide in the dumbwaiter.

Realtor Karen (Jennifer Coolidge) also constantly makes the duo feel like they’re not welcome here, while nosy neighbours Mitch (Richard Kind) and Mo (Margo Martindale) show no respect for property lines. Things get really scary when the Brannocks are terrorised by letters from the mysterious “Watcher”. Little by little, this uncovers more and more secrets in the immediate neighbourhood that push Nora and Dean far beyond the limits of what they can bear.
“The Watcher” will comprise seven episodes, almost all of which were also written and developed by Ryan Murphy (together with Ian Brennan and Reeves Wiedeman). Above all, however, the cast, in addition to the rather exciting story, makes you want more. With Naomi Watts (“Ring”) and Bobby Cannavale (“Blond”), “The Watcher” has two absolutely top-class stars. In addition, you can look forward to charismatic supporting actors like Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s mom from “American Pie”), Richard Kind (“A Serious Man”) and legendary actress Mia Farrow (“Rosemary’s Baby”).
