Film plot and background

German-Belgian animated film adaptation of the fantasy novel of the same name by Cornelia Funke.

In search of a new place of refuge, the young and inexperienced silver dragon Lung embarks on a journey to the mythical “hem of heaven” together with goblin girl Schwefelfell and orphan boy Ben. This legendary place is said to be in the Himalayas, but hardly anyone is really sure of its existence.

In addition to the humans who unwittingly restrict the dragons’ habitat, they are threatened by a new danger: nettle fire. This creature was once created by an alchemist with the sole purpose of hunting dragons. But the silver dragons kept finding new hiding places and Nettlebrand ran out of prey. Impatiently, he works to track down the dragons’ whereabouts.

Thanks to a spy, Nesselbrand manages to pick up the scent of Lung and his friends. Will he finally reach his goal or do Lung, Ben and Schwefelfell still have an ace up their sleeve?
