Apple TV+ has finally released the official trailer for the upcoming second season of the thriller drama The Mosquito Coast, starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George. The series is scheduled to make its return on Friday, November 4, followed by new episodes every Friday through January 6, 2023.
The Mosquito Coast Season 2 trailer continues to follow the Fox family as they find refuge in the Guatemalan jungle. The video highlights George’s Margot, who’s getting tired of their current situation and always being on the run.
“In season two, after barely escaping Mexico with their lives, the Foxes venture deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees,” reads the synopsis. “This new refuge creates trouble for the Foxes though when they become entangled in a conflict between a local drug lord and his family. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie and Margot pursue different paths to secure their family’s future. The outcome of which will either unite the family or tear it apart forever.”
Based on Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel of the same name, The Mosquito Coast tells a gripping adventure that follows the dangerous journey of Allie Fox — a brilliant inventor and stubborn idealist — who uproots his family on a dangerous quest to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels, and hitmen.
The series adaptation is being led by The Leftovers alum Justin Theroux, who is the nephew of the novel’s author. He is joined by Golden Globe nominee Melissa George (The Eddy, Triangle), Logan Polish (The Astronaut Farmer), Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out, Child’s Play), and Kimberly Elise (Ad Astra, Hit the Floor).
The Mosquito Coast series is created and executive produced by Neil Cross (Luther), who co-developed the project with Tom Bissell. Executive producers are Paul and Justin Theroux, Rupert Wyatt, Edward L. McDonnell, and Veritas Entertainment Group’s Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen, and Bob Bookman, with Freemantle Production having produced the series.
