Astérix: Le secret de la potion magique: In the second animated film based on the “Asterix” comics, Getafix is looking for a successor – but who should he trust with the secret of the magic potion?
Film plot and background
In the second animated film based on the “Asterix” comics, Getafix is looking for a successor – but who should he trust with the secret of the magic potion?
Getafix is looking for a successor. After he fell from the treetop while cutting mistletoe and broke his foot, the druid is seriously worried about his village. After all, Getafix is no longer the youngest. How are the Gauls supposed to defend themselves against the Romans if he can no longer make the magic potion? One thing is clear: Getafix needs an apprentice to whom he can entrust the secret of the magic potion.
But where can such a druid be found who is worthy of carrying the secret? Together with Asterix and Obelix, Getafix sets off in search of his successor. At the time, however, the village is unprotected. And not only the Romans, but also the devious Heretix try to take advantage of the weakness. While Heretix wants to seize the magic formula for the potion, the Romans attack the village when only women are there to defend it.

“Asterix and the secret of the potion” – Background
In 2014, a new era has dawned for the “Asterix” films. With “Asterix in the Land of the Gods”, the first 3D animated part of the film series was released, which was wonderfully directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy. No wonder, since the two directors are real experts in their field. After all, Louis Clichy worked in the animation department at Pixar on blockbusters like “WALL-E” and “Oben”, Alexandre Astier, on the other hand, was able to establish himself in France with the series “Kaamelott”.
In “Asterix and the Secret of the Magic Potion”, the two have once again shared the directing post. Incidentally, the French original features the same speakers as the first part. And they are not bad, since Asterix is voiced by the real-life Asterix actor Christian Clavier, who appeared in “Asterix and Obelix against Caesar” and “Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra”.
The German dubbing is also worth listening to, as this time Milan Peschel (“Fünf Freunde und das Tal der Dinosaurier”) and Charly Hübner (“Timm Thaler oder das verkaufte Lachen”) are once again doing the voices of Asterix and Obelix, as well as Thomas Rau (“La Kermesse des brigands”) as Getafix.
