With “Goosebumps at Midnight” Mike Flanagan recently delivered his new mini-series on Netflix. Although “mini” is not quite accurate in this case, as the creator himself has now confirmed…
The finale of “Goosebumps at Midnight” will leave many viewers with a question mark over their heads. This alone would not be a problem if it had not been the case in the past that Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series are designed for one season. In the case of “The Midnight Club” (the original title of the series), however, there are too many unanswered questions for the format to be truly concluded with one season.
In an interview with TVLine, Mike Flanagan has now spoken out about this and made it clear that a second season is indeed planned. All fans have to do for that is stream the series and keep their fingers crossed:
“We probably won’t know what Netflix wants in the next few months either, but the format was very much designed to go on. Pike has over 80 books, so we have a lot of incredible material to draw from. We haven’t answered some of the biggest questions of the season. Those answers exist, but they were meant for next season. If there aren’t any, I’ll post the answers on Twitter so we can at least all talk about it there. “
In plain language, this means that if “Goosebumps at Midnight” is successful enough, in theory there is nothing standing in the way of a second season. Mike Flanagan is among the artists in the service of Netflix who bring a certain prestige with them. In the top 10 series trends on Netflix, “Goosebumps at Midnight” has already made itself comfortable since its release – even if it was never enough for the top position due to the sensational success of “Dahmer – Monster”. So the signs are basically quite good.
Should there not be a second season of “Goosebumps at Midnight”, new content from Mike Flanagan on Netflix is nevertheless imminent. His new series, “The Fall Of The House Of Usher” is already in post-production. We can assume that the format, which is based on stories by Edgar Allen Poe, will be released next year – probably around Halloween again. Flanagan recently explained what we can expect here:
