At the end of episode 7 of the “Star Wars” series “Andor” on Disney Plus, two droids appear that look like “Rogue One” fan favourite K-2SO. But is one of them really Cassian’s future robo-companion? Probably not…

In the otherwise quite serious “Star Wars” war film “Rogue One”, K-2SO is the only one who provides a laugh or two. With his sarcastic and sometimes morbid sayings, Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) droid quickly won the hearts of the fans. It is clear that his appearance in the Disney+ series “Andor” is also eagerly awaited by “Rogue One” fans. And indeed, for a brief moment in episode 7, K-2SO seems to be making a comeback. But then a second robot appears that looks exactly the same. So is one of the “Andor” droids really K-2SO or is the “Star Wars” series just fooling us here?
THAT’S WHY THE SUPPOSED K-2SO APPEARANCE IS JUST A HOAX
We can tell you with a very high degree of certainty that neither of the two droids at the end of the current “Andor” episode represent K-2SO. There are several reasons for this.
The KX units since Rogue One have been a menace and I love that. Cleaning up job on Mandalore, nuisance in Jedi Fallen Order and now in Andor, mis hearing the Shoretrooper with ‘hang’. pic.twitter.com/bY2na0Bd24

My dad likes to make stuff and he has built a life-sized K-2SO cos he loves Rogue One. But he never truly believes what he makes is good enough.
I’d love for people to see it and if you think it’s awesome please give this post a like/retweet so I can prove to him otherwise pic.twitter.com/bLUBG3B1Ie

First of all, K-2SO is not a unique specimen, but a mass-produced Imperial KX security droid. Their large, athletic build and long limbs make them ideal for keeping individuals at bay, as one of the KX droids impressively demonstrates in “Andor” when he puts Cassian through the wringer. So there are numerous such robots that look just like K-2SO. That’s why it’s nothing special that there are two of them in the episode.
Secondly, the droid that attacks Cassian has a completely different voice than K-2SO. In “Rogue One”, K-2SO was portrayed by Alan Tudyk, who not only lent him his voice, but also provided his movements via motion capture. Tudyk has also already confirmed that he will play the character should he appear in the Disney+ series. But a look at the credits reveals that the KX unit in “Andor” was voiced by someone named Aidan Cook. Presumably this is the same Aidan Cook who also embodied the aliens Boolio in “Star Wars 9” and Two Tubes in “Rogue One”, though we can’t confirm this for sure.
Thirdly, Alan Tudyk announced in January 2021 that he had not worked on season 1 of “Andor”. At the time, he revealed to Collider, “They’re shooting it right now. I’m not on it. But if the series continues and more stories are told, I’ll end up in it.”
So there are some very clear signs that neither droid in “Andor” episode 7 is not K-2SO. We probably won’t get to see the “Rogue One” fan favourite until season 2 of the “Star Wars” series.
