While “Andor” is still running, the next “Star Wars” series already awaits us on Disney+: In “Tales of the Jedi” (in the original: “Tales Of The Jedi”) there is a reunion with popular characters like Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn. Here is the trailer:

If there’s one thing “Star Wars” fans can’t complain about, it’s a lack of new series on Disney+. At the beginning of the year we were able to watch Boba Fett riding Bantha, followed by Ewan McGregor’s return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in May and “Andor” is currently running as the third real series of the current year. The “Star Wars” animation faction, however, has been left empty-handed so far and because we still have to wait until January for season 2 of “The Bad Batch”, it is all the nicer that Disney+ is providing a short snack today: On 26 October 2022 all six episodes of the first season “Tales of the Jedi” will start on Disney’s streaming service. Above we have the German trailer for you.

THIS IS WHAT “TALES OF THE JEDI” IS ABOUT ON DISNEY PLUS

“The Clone Wars”- and “Mandalorian”-maker Dave Filoni eventually got tired of having many more “Star Wars”-ideas floating around in his head, which, however, did not justify a series of their own on their own. He revealed this at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, where we were present. That’s why he had the idea to combine all these stories into an anthology series. “Tales of the Jedi” is now the result of this:

Here, the individual episodes, each about 15 minutes long, stand on their own like short films on the one hand, but on the other hand, three episodes are always dedicated to the “path” of a certain Jedi, so that together they form an even larger story arc.

In season 1, Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku are the focus of each episode. If there are more seasons at a later date, other characters will be brought into the spotlight.

Each path shows formative events in the history of the respective Jedi. We have already seen the very first episode “Life And Death” at the Star Wars Celebration at the end of May. In this episode Ahsoka is still a baby, but nevertheless experiences an exciting, poetic and visually beautiful adventure. Read more in our first impression from then.

But many “Star Wars” fans will certainly be even more interested in the Count Dooku path, as it will show the later Sith during his time as a Jedi. On the basis of the individual episodes, his change of heart from the light to the dark side will be explained in more detail.

“STORIES OF THE JEDI”. THESE “STAR WARS” CHARACTERS AND STARS ARE IN IT

The following well-known characters have already been confirmed for “Tales of the Jedi” alongside Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku: Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Darth Sidious aka Emperor Palpatine, Bail Organa, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.

Most of these characters are voiced in the original by speakers who also lent their voices to the respective characters in “The Clone Wars” or “Rebels”. Fans can look forward to the familiar voice acting of Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka, Corey Burton as Dooku, Matt Lanter as Anakin and James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan. With Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine and Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, there are also two cases in which the actors from the live-action films also voice the animated version.

With Qui-Gon Jinn, however, there is an exception. Liam Neeson voices the master Obi-Wan only in those episodes in which he is already an adult (it is not yet known how many of these are). The young Qui-Gon, on the other hand, is voiced by Liam Neeson’s son Micheál Richardson.

To give you a chance to listen to the English voices, here is the original trailer for “Tales of the Jedi”:
