Hui Buh and the Witch’s Castle: Second children’s film with Michael Bully Herbig as the spectre Hui Buh.
Film plot and background
Still coming to terms with castle ghost Hui Buh (Michael Bully Herbig) and King Julius (Christoph Maria Herbst) at Burgeck Castle. While Hui Buh is anything but scary, but rather comes across as a little pain in the neck, elsewhere on the continent mischief is brewing.
The little witch Ophelia (Nelly Hoffmann) appears one day at the door of Burgeck Castle and asks Hui Buh for help. She is in fact his niece and reports that an evil witch is holding Hui Buh’s sister captive. Together they must save the world from the Necronomicon, the most powerful spell book in the world, and rescue Hui Buh’s sister at the same time. They get support from Charles (Rick Kavanian) and some other famous witches. However, there is one huge problem: Hui Buh is afraid of witches.
“Hui Buh and the Witch’s Castle” – background, cast, cinema release
After more than 16 years of waiting, Michael Bully Herbig once again slips into the role of the friendly ghost Hui Buh after “Hui Buh, das Schlossgespenst”. “Hui Buh und das Hexenschloss” tells a new story. As in the radio play adventures that have thrilled generations of children and adults since the 1960s, some familiar characters return.
Alongside Herbig, Christoph Maria Herbst as King Julius CXI. and Rick Kavanian as Charles are once again not to be missed. New at their side: young actress Nelly Hoffmann (“Familie Dr. Kleist”), Mina Tander (“Berlin Station”), Charlotte Schwab (“Alarm für Cobra 11”), Carmen-Maja Antoni (“The Kangaroo Chronicles”) and Manou Lubowski (“Saving the World We Know”) as the voice of the Necronomicon.
In order to guarantee as many small and big spook fans as possible the chance to visit the cinema, the production team around producer Christian Becker and director Sebastian Niemann decided to postpone the cinema release from winter 2022 to autumn 2022. “Hui Buh und das Hexenschloss” will start in German cinemas on 3 November 2022.
