Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it had acquired the rights to stream the upcoming second season of the hit anime series Vinland Saga, with Season 2 set to premiere in January 2023.
Alongside the news of the simulcast, a new trailer for the upcoming season has also been released, showing off many of the continuing story threads from the first season, including Thorfinn searching for what’s next following the events of Season 1.

Set a year after the events of the first season of the show, Vinland Saga Season 2 will see Thorfinn looking for a purpose in his life following the death of Askeladd, his longtime enemy. Elsewhere, Canute, the new King of England, looks to extend his territory, as he seeks to establish “the promised land” in the process.
The Vinland Saga anime is based on the award-winning manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The manga premiered in 2005 and is still in publication, having collected 26 volumes as of the today. The series is a smash hit in Japan, with over 7 million copies circulating and also having won the 36th Kodansha Manga Award for Best General Manga and the Grand Prize of the 13th Japan Media Arts Festival.
