With just a couple of weeks until the holiday season officially kicks off, Marvel Studios has released the official trailer and release date for the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
The special, which will premiere on Disney+ on November 25, 2022, sees the Guardians traveling to Earth during Christmas time. Their goal is to find a gift for Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who has been upset following Gamora’s disappearance at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
Their plan leads them to Hollywood, where Drax and Mantis go out in search of Kevin Bacon (who is playing himself in the special), an actor Star-Lord has praised in past films.
The holidays are coming … and so are *DUN DUN DUUUUN* The Guardians.

The first trailer also gives fans an updated look at the group of Guardians, most notably Groot — who is much bigger than he was when we last saw him — as he continues to grow back into his original self. Also included in the trailer are brief looks at Star-Lord, Cosmo, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon, Nebula, and more.
The space-traveling team was last seen in this year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, where they teamed up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for some intergalactic adventures in the film’s first act. Though Groot was the focus of the recent Disney+ series of shorts titled I Am Groot, the team will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, 2023 following the Holiday Special.
