Surely ex-teen idol Lindsay Lohan would like to forget one or two embarrassing details of her private past. But it’s only that easy in the romantic Christmas comedy “Falling For Christmas” on Netflix. Here comes the trailer:
“Falling For Christmas” is – after almost seven years off! – the first film project of former superstar Lindsay Lohan (“Girls Club”). The streaming giant Netflix is probably hoping to follow up the colossal success of the “Princess Swap” series with Vanessa Hudgens with this casting coup. In case “Falling For Christmas” becomes a hit, plans for a sequel are probably already in the pipeline.
This is the story of “Falling For Christmas”: The hopelessly spoiled, newly engaged hotel heiress Sierra Belmont (Lindsay Lohan) is on a skiing holiday. Then she loses her memory in an accident on the slopes. Jake (Chord Overstreet), a widower who leads a simple life, rescues the woman and, together with his daughter (Olivia Perez), nurses her back to health in his small mountain guesthouse.
The Christmas holidays are approaching and Sierra still doesn’t have her memories back. Instead, she is now quite sure about her feelings for Jake. How nice that he too has fallen in love with the houseguest and that little Avy also gets on very well with her. But can the relationship have a future when Sierra regains her memory? And what will her fiancé Tad (George Young) as well as her filthy rich father (Jack Wagner) say when they find out what happened?
“Falling For Christmas” opens worldwide on 10 November 2022 exclusively on the streaming service Netflix. The film is the directorial debut of “A Princess for Christmas” producer and writer Janeen Damian.
LINDSAY LOHAN: FROM TEEN IDOL TO NETFLIX HOLIDAY TEARJERKER
Born in New York in 1986, Lindsay Lohan rose to stardom as a child with her dual role in the hit Disney movie “A Twin Seldom Comes Alone”. As a teenager, she went on to star in successful films such as the “Freaky Friday” remake with Jamie Lee Curtis, “Confessions of a High School Diva” and the cult school bitch comedy “Girls Club”.
Following this, she also made a career as a pop singer and again cleaned up at the box office with the Disney-produced “Herbie: Fully Loaded”. However, first, thematically more adult projects with other studios (“Kissed for Luck”, “I Know Who Killed Me”) flopped and shortly afterwards her record company refused to release an already recorded third album.
In the following years, press reports about the star’s alcohol and drug excesses increased. Several times she had to go to court for drunk driving or offences against the narcotics law and was even sentenced to prison in some cases. Critics slated “Liz & Dick”, in which Lohan impersonated her idol Elizabeth Taylor. And following the disastrously bad horror tearjerker “Among The Shadows”, which was already filmed in 2015 but not released until 2019, she withdrew from show business except for small TV appearances. This seemed to end the former A-lister’s acting career.
Until now, when she’s attempting her comeback with “Falling For Christmas”. Lohan is joined in the film by “Glee” star Chord Overstreet, George Young (“Malignant”) and “Melrose Place” veteran Jack Wagner. Lohan’s younger sister Aliana Lohan also plays a small supporting role as her stylist.
