“Andor” is currently running on Disney Plus and is thrilling many “Star Wars” fans. And they can look forward directly to the next promising series: With the start of filming, the complete, impressive cast of “The Acolyte” has now been announced.
While filming on “The Acolyte” is already underway, Disney has now released the cast for the upcoming “Star Wars” series. It has been known for some time that Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give”) will take on the leading role. The involvement of prominent faces such as Lee Jung-jae, who won an Emmy for the Netflix hit “Squid Game”, and “Queen & Slim” star Jodie Turner-Smith also leaked out in advance. But the now published list is even more high-profile and quite promising.
Led by “Matrix” star Carrie-Anne Moss, for example, we still see “Logan – The Wolverine” discovery Dafne Keen, Dean-Charles Chapman known from “Game Of Thrones” and “1917” as well as Manny Jacinto (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Rebecca Henderson (“Inventing Anna”) and Charlie Barnett (“Matryoshka”).
In a first picture from the shoot, Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae can already be seen with series creator Leslye Headland (“Matryoshka”), but without costumes. There are also pictures of the cast:

Which roles all the stars play in “The Acolyte” is not yet known. We can probably expect characters we don’t know yet, at least from films and series. After all, the upcoming “Star Wars” series is set far before the events of “Episode I” in the last days of the High Republic era. Here, the Jedi were at the height of the Force, but too blind to see the burgeoning powers of the Dark Side in a galaxy full of dark secrets.
Amandla Stenberg plays a former Padawan who teams up with her Jedi Master (possibly played by Lee Jung-jae?) to investigate a series of crimes. In the process, they encounter forces much darker than they ever imagined.
According to the official announcement, “The Acoylte” is a “mystery thriller”. After the dark “Andor”, where the oppression by the fascist regime is in the centre, “Star Wars” is thus enriched by another facet, which also seems to be rather dark, although this time Jedi and lightsabers are part of it again.
“The Acolyte” will probably be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ in the course of 2023.
