Fragile: French coming-of-age drama about love, friendship and dancing

Plot and background

“Fragile” is set in the French Mediterranean town of Sète. Here lives the young oyster fisherman Az (Yasin Houicha), together with his sister, his mother and his Algerian grandmother. His girlfriend Jess (Tiphaine Daviot) is well on her way to making a name for herself as a TV actress. When the romantic Az makes a plan to propose to Jess, their happiness is thrown off balance. For Jess refuses. Az is devastated, but his friends help the boy regain his self-confidence. While Az tries to win Jess back, he gets to know the power of Algerian Raï music and the dancer Lila (César winner Oulaya Amamra).

“Fragile” – background, cinema release

Algerian-French filmmaker Emma Benestan makes her feature film debut with “Fragil”, bringing us summery images on the big screen this winter.

“Fragil” will be released in German cinemas from 01 December 2022.
