Fans of the fantasy series “Shadow And Bone” had to wait quite a long time for this news – but now it is finally fixed, the start date for season 2! There are also new pictures, and they point to dark events…
Gone are the days when there was usually a year between seasons of a series. For many of the increasingly elaborate productions, it is now two years – as is the case with “Shadow And Bone – The Legends Of Grisha”. Season 1 of the fantasy series was released on Netflix in April 2021, and now we finally know the start date for season 2: it’s 16 March 2023.
That’s still a while away, but at least Netflix is sweetening the wait for us with the first images from the second season, which you can view further down in this article. And it shouldn’t be too long now until the first trailer is released.
SEASON 2: ALINA VS. KIRIGAN
And what is the second season of the Netflix hit based on the books by Leigh Bardugo about? There’s now a synopsis for that too: “In season 2, Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) finds herself on the run. To some she is a spark of hope, to others a suspected traitor. Alina is determined to tear down the Shadow Corridor and save Ravka from ruin. But General Kirigan (Ben Barnes) has returned to finish what he started.”
We also see said General Kirigan in the images for Season 2, and it’s clear that the Dark One’s fight with a Volcra in the Season 1 finale has not left him unscathed – his face is riddled with scars.

In the Netflix content note, it goes on to say that Kirigan is gathering an army of shadow monsters and fearsome Grisha behind him and poses a greater threat than ever before. Alina and her friend Mal (Archie Renaux) must find new allies to stand a chance against him. The search for two magical creatures with which Alina can strengthen her powers leads her on a journey across the entire continent.
And of course, the crows are not to be missed in season 2. When the gang around Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter) gets the chance for a big but potentially deadly heist, their paths cross with that of sun warrior Alina.
