You love “Wednesday”? Then you should definitely also see this “Addams”.

Wednesday” with Jenna Ortega in the title role is currently being binged around the globe. But with eight episodes you’re quickly through – and then what? Fortunately, there’s more of the “Addams Family” for you on Netflix right now.

The Addams Family has been around for almost a hundred years. In the 1930s, the quirky creepy family was invented by cartoonist Charles Addams and first had their adventures in The New Yorker magazine. In the 1960s, the famous black-and-white series “The Addams Family” was created – and since then, many more shows and films.

You can currently stream one of the “Addams Family” films with your Netflix subscription: the animated film “The Addams Family” from 2019. And it’s worth it: in the FILMSTARTS review, we awarded 3.5 out of 5 possible stars for the family-friendly scary fun – and if it were up to the children with whom the author of this article saw the film in the cinema at the time, it would certainly be half or a whole star more!

AT NETFLIX: SCARY FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

So if you’re through with “Wednesday,” be sure to check out “The Addams Family” as well. It may not be overly scary – but let’s face it, neither is director Tim Burton’s series. The focus is more on weird ideas and gags about the morbid family that moves into a dilapidated mansion and, with their peculiarities, doesn’t fit in at all with the residents of the nearby showcase suburb. Our review verdict: “Entertaining fun for the whole family. “

AT SKY AND PRIME VIDEO: EVEN MORE OF THE “ADDAMS FAMILY “

A sequel already exists – but to watch “The Addams Family 2” with a streaming subscription, you need Sky or WOW (formerly Sky Ticket). Unfortunately, the new animated adventures are not yet available on Netflix. If you want to watch Barry Sonnenfeld’s cult live-action films from the 90s again, “The Addams Family” and “The Addams Family in Crazy Tradition”, you’ll also find them on Sky and WOW.

In it, Christina Ricci plays Wednesday Addams – and if you’ve watched “Wednesday”, you’ll know that Ricci is also in the Netflix series, but this time in a very different role…

And if you don’t have WOW, but Amazon Prime Video, you won’t go completely empty-handed: There you can get “The Addams Family in a crazy tradition” as a subscription…

HARD TO GET: THE CULT BLACK-AND-WHITE SERIES

Unfortunately, the cult black-and-white original series is currently nowhere to be streamed. And even buying it isn’t that easy – at least not in the German dubbed version, which was made for German television in the 70s. Here you’re most likely to have to resort to second-hand DVDs, and not all seasons are readily available. As a UK import with English soundtrack, the discs are also available as new goods in a complete collection.

IS “WEDNESDAY” SEASON 2 COMING?

But if you’d prefer to watch more “Wednesday” with the titular goth brat (Jenna Ortega), her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) and their parents Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán) and have no interest at all in further “Addams Family” adventures in film and series form, you’ll have to be a little patient.

The second season of “Wednesday” has not yet been ordered – but with the mega-success that the fantasy series has been, it should really only be a matter of time. We will of course keep you up to date.
