Soul: Animated film in which Jamie Foxx’s character suffers an accident. Separated from his body, his soul ends up in a training seminar…

Plot and background

As a music teacher, Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx) not only teaches his New York students about music history, but also prepares them for school performances. His big dream is to one day stand on stage himself and enchant the audience with his jazz music. On an open stage at the Half Note Club, the opportunity finally presents itself to him – and he seizes it. But before he can really take off, he suffers an accident.

Separated from his body, his soul is transferred to the “You Seminar”. At this place, souls are trained and passions are developed. In addition, they are prepared for the return to earth before being transferred into a newborn. In this seminar, Joe meets soul 22 (Tina Fey), who has a hard time in the training programme with her gloomy nature.
