A crime so horrific it will make your blood run cold: In the best-selling adaptation “Murder on God’s Behalf”, “Avatar” star Sam Worthington commits a brutal double murder of a mother and her 15-month-old daughter as a fanatical Mormon. On his trail is Marvel star Andrew Garfield, who as investigator Jeb Pyre has to solve the murder in the religious community.
True-crime fans should definitely keep the mini-series on their radar, because it is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Jon Krakauer from 2003, whose book deals with a real case from 1984 that was so disgusting and shocking that it made national headlines in the USA at the time.
ANDREW GARFIELD’S DARKEST ROLE YET
In the series adaptation of “Murder on God’s Behalf”, Marvel star Andrew Garfield, who is particularly remembered by film fans as Spider-Man in the films of the “Amazing Spider-Man” series and “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, must now prove that he is also made for dark roles.
No easy task, but the actor has proven often enough in the past that he should not be limited to his excursions into the blockbuster world, but can shine in a wide variety of roles. For example, he was convincing in the David Lynch homage “Under The Silver Lake”, as hypernervous star composer Jonathan Larson in the Netflix musical “Tick, Tick…. Boom!” or in Martin Scorsese’s intense faith drama “Silence”.
