“Fear Street 4” is coming! Netflix builds its bloody horror film universe

“Fear Street” also plays a role in Netflix’s future plans. With Chloe Okuno, a genre director has now been confirmed for the next instalment, who may bring mischief upon the sleepy small town of Shadyside in the sequel.

The Netflix production “Fear Street” came to the streaming service in 2021 as a horror triple and served up bloody genre fare. Even if we didn’t quite like the last part of the series, the scary films still delivered solid horror entertainment that doesn’t have to hide behind classic studio productions. The ambitious approach of telling a horror story through three films in quick succession and in three different time levels alone deserves respect.

Netflix also seems to have been pleased with the final product, because it has now been announced that the streaming giant has put another film in the series into production with the capital N and a director has also already been found for the sequel.

“FEAR STREET 4” HAS FOUND A DIRECTOR

With the signing of director Chloe Okuno, there is now movement in the production of “Fear Street 4”. The filmmaker is no stranger to the horror genre. Most recently, for example, she directed the “Storm Drain” segment of the horror film anthology “V/H/S 94” or the psychological thriller “Watcher”.

But what is the “Fear Street” series actually about? Time and again, the tranquil town of Shadyside is haunted by brutal crimes, massacres and bloodthirsty killers. Is it the town? In “Fear Street – Part 1: 1994” a masked killer hunts down a group of teenagers. In “Fear Street – Part 2: 1978” the focus is on the massacre at the Nightwing holiday camp, while in “Fear Street – Part 3: 1666” the origin of evil in Shadyside is investigated.

Whether the series will continue to follow the existing concept remains to be seen, nothing is known about the plot of Part 4 yet. There should be no lack of inspiration, after all, the young adult horror series by “Goosebumps” creator R.L. Stine, which serves as a template, comprises 51 volumes and further spin-offs. What is certain, however, is that we will return to tranquil Shadyside again this time. After all, the sleepy little American town is something of a trademark of the horror series.

It is not yet known when “Fear Street 4” will be released on Netflix. However, the horror flick is not likely to be available on the streaming provider until early 2024 at the earliest, as the film is still in a very early stage of production.
