2024 there will be a reunion with the blind devil on Disney Plus. Charlie Cox will once again play the superhero in “Daredevil: Born Again” Charlie Cox will once again don the superhero suit and put a stop to criminals – and that in a whopping 18 episodes!
Comic fans have long wished for it: Charlie Cox has finally arrived in the MCU as Matt Murdock from the (former) Netflix series “Daredevil”. “Daredevil: Born Again” is scheduled to start in early 2024 and will probably be the most ambitious Marvel project at Disney+ to date. The filming of the new Marvel series is expected to take a whole 11 months (!).
But there is a reason for the long shooting time. While the previous Disney Plus MCU series had 6 to a maximum of 9 episodes per season, this number will be doubled for the first season of the new Daredevil rebirth! The diabolical superhero will be given a whole 18 episodes. That’s twice as many episodes as the previous Disney+ series leaders “WandaVision”, “What If…?” and “She-Hulk: The Lawyer” can boast.
WHY FOLLOW 18?
In an interview with the New Musical Express, actor Charlie Cox also expressed mild surprise at the sprawling number of episodes and the longer shooting times involved. “They told me, ‘We’re going to shoot in 2023’. I said, ‘Great, when?’ They said, ‘The whole of 2023’. I’ll start shooting in February and be done in December. “
With an 11-month shoot and a planned 18 episodes, “Daredevil: Born Again” will be by far the biggest Marvel project on Disney+. So far, we can only speculate about the plot of the series, but Daredevil actor Cox has his own ideas as to why “Daredevil: Born Again” has become such a substantial Marvel series:
“It fascinates me why they decided to do 18 episodes. I imagine there will be an element to this show that will make it feel almost like a classic old-school serial production. Not necessarily a case-of-the-week, but something where we really dive deep into the life of lawyer Matt Murdock. “
“DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN” WILL BE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE NETFLIX SERIES
“I don’t think it’s a different character. I just think it’s maybe a different period of his life. I don’t think my interpretation will change – they hired the same actor. We’re saying this is a whole new… era” CharlieCox Daredevil DaredevilBornAgain https://t.co/Z1KWh0t3Ei

Daredevil actor Charlie Cox, however, makes it clear that “Daredevil: Born Again” will be very different from its Netflix predecessor:
“In my opinion, this character works best when it’s aimed at a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that the series will also be gritty on Disney+, but probably not as bloody. […] Let’s take the things that have really worked, but can we broaden the spectrum? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works? “
WILL “DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN” BE KID-FRIENDLY?
Netflix’s “Daredevil” adaptation stood out in particular for its hard-hitting action sequences, which were markedly different in their rawness from the MCU productions of the time – and were celebrated by fans for precisely that reason. It would be a shame if the series were to lose the very unique selling point that distinguished it back then.
Of course, the character Daredevil has other great aspects to offer besides action. In the comics, for example, drug abuse or religious conflicts play a major role again and again – but even these thematically rather heavy fields do not necessarily seem to be made for a “younger audience”. What exactly Charlie Cox means by this statement, we will probably only find out in early 2024, when the “Daredevil: Born Again” will launch on Disney+.
