Caveman: Film adaptation of the acclaimed stage play of the same name, starring Moritz Bleibtreu.

Plot and background

For Rob Becker (Moritz Bleibtreu) it should be the fulfilment of a childhood dream. He ekes out his daily existence as an unsuccessful car salesman, but now he finally wants to become known as a comedian. For his first appearance at an Openmic night, he has the perfect topic ready: with the Caveman – his imaginary friend from the Stone Age – Rob has been exchanging ideas for quite some time to explore the differences between men and women in the modern world.

But 15 minutes before Rob takes the stage, he finally changes his entire programme. The reason is his wife Claudia Müller (Laura Tonke), who left him in an argument minutes before in the heat of the moment. Now he debates on stage that women and idiots don’t belong together and tells his unsuspecting audience about the stages of his marriage. Both the first meeting, curious anecdotes from the relationship and finally the separation are meticulously depicted. The question the audience is asked to answer is: Is Rob the complete idiot in this relationship or not?
