Moomios: Spanish animated adventure in which three mummies must venture from their underground secret city in ancient Egypt into the world of the living to recover a royal ring.
Plot and background
In an underground secret city, mummies still live as they did in ancient Egypt. However, when the charioteer Thut is to marry the princess Nefer, the royal wedding ring is stolen by the ambitious archaeologist from the human world, Lord Carnaby. To retrieve the ring and save himself from the pharaoh’s wrath, Thut embarks on a daring mission to present-day London. The mummy is accompanied by his younger brother Sekhem, the princess and a baby crocodile. Together, the three mummies and their little pet experience hilarious adventures and cause great chaos in the human world they are completely unfamiliar with.
“Mummies – A Totally Tangled Adventure” – background, cast, cinema release
Spanish director Juan Jesús García Galocha brings a fun, humorous cinematic adventure for the whole family to the big screen with “Mummies – A Totally Tangled Adventure”. Galocha makes his feature film debut with “Mummies” after working as an art director on films such as “Tad Stones – The Lost Treasure Hunter!”. An impressive dubbing cast has been assembled for the English version, including Joe Thomas (“The Inbetweeners – Our Virgin Years”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“The Illusionist – Nothing Is As It Seems”), Santiago Winder (“The Hope Rooms”), Celia Imrie (“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”), Dan Starkey (“Doctor Who”), Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”), singer, songwriter and producer Shakka and Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones: Song of Ice and Fire”).
The film music was composed by Goya Award winner Fernando Velázquez, who even wrote three original songs for the film, including “I Am Today”, “New Song” and “Ring Song”. Screenwriter and producer Jordi Gasull contributed the lyrics to the latter. So musical fans can also look forward to one or two mummy vocals. “Mummies – A Totally Entangled Adventure” opens in cinemas here on 16 February 2023.
