“The Contractor” – Cast, release, background
In an action thriller in the style of “Jason Bourne” and “John Wick”, Chris Pine (“Star Trek” series) has to stand his ground against a series of mercenaries. Filming took place not only in the USA, but also in Germany and Romania.
In addition to the top stars around Chris Pine, Ben Foster (“Hell or High Water”), Kiefer Sutherland (“24”) and Gillian Jacobs (“Community”), German film fans can also look forward to the two German actors Nina Hoss (“Barbara”) and Florian Munteanu (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).
Behind the camera, director Tarik Saleh has shown a flair for unusual material with films like “Metropia” and “The Nile Hilton Affair”, while producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee have already provided action highlights in the cinemas with the “John Wick” series.
While “The Contractor” is being released in parallel in the USA on the streaming provider Paramount+ and in cinemas, the theatrical release in Germany is imminent: on 14 April 2022, Chris Pine must stand his ground against the tormentors in “The Contractor”.
