If you’re looking for an unusual genre mix of action, romance, espionage and comedy, you should take a look at the Disney+ new releases. There you will find an exciting film from director James Mangold starting today.

On 29 June 2023, the long-awaited fifth part of the popular adventure film series with Harrison Ford, “Indiana Jones and the Call of Destiny”, will be released in cinemas. We are already hearing new details about the film and the rumour mill is bubbling. In the middle of it all: director James Mangold, who has his hands full trying to sort out the latest news and keep the fans happy. Because it will almost certainly be the last time that Ford will slip into his famous role as an adventurous archaeologist – and Indy fans are naturally hoping for a very special film.

The fact that Mangold already has a lot of experience with action and adventure films quickly becomes clear when you take a look at his filmography. For example, there are the two “X-Men” spin-offs “Wolverine: Way of the Warrior” and “Logan – The Wolverine”, which focus on suspense and dark atmosphere. And “Le Mannes 66 – Against All Odds” was anything but bored and relaxed in the cinema seats. But if you want to see what Mangold does with the combination of action, adventure and comedy before “Indiana Jones 5”, we recommend a completely different film:

Starting today, 17 February, the action comedy “Knight and Day” by director James Mangold is on Disney+. The film with stars like Tom Cruise (“Top Gun 2”), Cameron Diaz (“Bad Teacher 2”) and Peter Sarsgaard (“The Batman”) was already in cinemas in 2010, but should still be fun to watch.

In our FILMSTARTS review, “Knight and Day” earned a solid three stars and scored points especially with great performances by the actors, fast-paced chases and the unusual genre mix. Read more here:

THIS IS WHAT “KNIGHT AND DAY” IS ABOUT

June Havens (Diaz) and Roy Miller (Cruise) don’t know each other when they first meet at the airport. Nevertheless, a short time later they are quite taken with each other on the plane. Before they can even get close to each other, there are several dead people on board – Miller had to get rid of killers who were out to get him. But it gets even more adventurous.

After Miller has landed the Boeing, he kidnaps June and sets off with her on a wild chase. The two are pursued not only by unscrupulous arms dealers, but also by the FBI and the CIA. How good that the duo’s different personalities complement each other perfectly…

“Knight and Day” airs today on Disney+.
