The official trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s romance novel One True Loves has been revealed, starring Hamilton actress Phillipa Soo. The film will arrive in theaters on April 7, followed by its VOD release on April 28.
The video features Soo’s Emma who experiences painful heartbreak after suddenly losing her husband Jessie in an accident. Years after the incident, she finds herself falling in love with her childhood best friend, who later becomes her fiancé. However, her life changes again after she discovers that Jesse is back from the dead and has been alive all this time. Now, she is torn between choosing her first love or the new love who brought her out of grief.

One True Loves is directed by Andy Fickman from a screenplay written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Alex Jenkins Reid. The film stars Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings) as Sam, Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) as Emma, and Luke Bracey (Elvis) as Jesse, with Tom Everett Scott, Michaela Conlin, Lauren Tom, and Michael O’Keefe.
Described as a modern twist on a classic love story, the film begins with Emma and Jesse who are living the perfect life together, until Jesse disappears in a tragic helicopter crash on their first wedding anniversary,” reads the synopsis. “Four years later, Emma has found happiness again and is about to marry her best friend when Jesse resurfaces, turning her world upside down and leaving her torn between two great loves.”
