Those who have binged through “The Night Agent” in recent days and would like to see more of the Netflix series now have reason to rejoice. The streaming provider has confirmed that there will be a second season!
Netflix has hit the bull’s eye with the thriller series “The Night Agent”, as the production is not only being hotly discussed and praised in social media, but also found itself in the Netflix top 10 shortly after its launch. The series from “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan already reached 168.71 million watched hours in its first week after airing, making it the most watched title of the week. Before “The Night Agent”, only the series “Dahmer” and “Wednesday” got off to a more successful start. And just like those two series, things continue for the thriller production:
Netflix has confirmed a second season of “The Night Agent”! When the new episodes will run on the streaming channel and how exactly the plot might continue has not yet been determined.
THIS IS WHAT THE 2ND SEASON OF “THE NIGHT AGENT” COULD LOOK LIKE
In the first season of “The Night Agent”, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is supposed to guard a phone in the basement of the White House, which should only ring in extreme emergencies. When it actually rings, Peter ends up in the Oval Office, has to identify a mole and finds himself caught up in a gigantic conspiracy.
In fact, Shawn Ryan was already talking about a second season of “The Night Agent” when there was no green light for the sequel. In an interview he already emphasised that he had thought about further seasons and that the series was also pitched to Netflix in this way – i.e. with the possibility of a sequel. Of course, that doesn’t sound extraordinary at first.
But the series is based on a novel by Matthew Quirk, which is completely finished. And no, there are (so far!) no other books in the “Night Agent” series either.
According to Ryan, further seasons would also each have a completed ending. However, the showrunner has not yet commented on possible content and plots. Characters from the first season could definitely be back in the sequel.
It is not yet known when the second season of “The Night Agent” will air.
