Shazam! Fury of the Gods: Superhero sequel starring Zachary Levi about teenager Billy who transforms into hero Shazam thanks to magic

Plot and Background

When teenager Billy (Asher Angel) utters the magic word “Shazam”, he becomes the adult superhero SHAZAM! (Zachary Levi) and is wise as King Solomon, strong as Hercules, enduring as Atlas, powerful as Zeus, brave as Achilles, fast as Mercury and very humorous besides. The first solo appearance of the superhero in the 2019 cinema year convinced the audience and the studio executives at Warner Bros. 2″ was quickly decided upon, but the scheduled cinema release in 2022 had to be postponed. Shazam’s second solo adventure will start on 16 March 2023.

The first trailer reveals how Billy is dealing with his powers after a few years:

“Shazam! 2 – Fury of the Gods” – Look forward to this cast

With Billy actor Asher Angel and his adult superhero counterpart portrayed by Zachary Levi, the main actors are returning once again for the sequel.

It is also confirmed that Billy’s step-family with the five siblings Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), Mary (Grace Fulton), Eugene (Ian Chen), Pedro (Jovan Armand) and Darla (Faithe Herman) will also be involved in the sequel. Thanks to Billy, the five siblings at the end of “Shazam!” were also able to transform into superheroes and become the “Shazam” family. With Adam Brody (Freddy), Grace Fulton (Mary), Ross Butler (Eugene), DJ Cotrona (Pedro) and Meagan Good (Darla), these alter egos are also in the sequel.

Nothing changes behind the camera: director David F. Sandberg, as well as screenwriter Henry Gayden return to their posts for the sequel. The title of the film was revealed at the DC Fandome in August 2020: “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” It wasn’t until March 2021 that a goddess was cast: Hespera, daughter of Atlas, will be portrayed by Oscar winner Helen Mirren (“The Queen”). The character Hespera has already been announced as a villain, but has no explicit counterpart to the DC Comics. Mirren is also joined by Lucy Liu (“Elementary”) as Calypso. Newcomer Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”) will also turn the kids’ heads.
