While the highlight of season 5 of “The Crown” was clearly Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, fans of the Netflix series are now eager to see Prince William and Kate Middleton portrayed. Now there are first pictures of the couple!
In the five seasons of “The Crown” on Netflix, we’ve seen quite a few royals come and go – literally. One of the most colorful figures of the British royal family has been around since season 4: Diana Spencer, the future wife and ex-wife of Prince Charles. While she was still played by Emma Corrin (“My Policeman”) in the fourth season, Elizabeth Debicki (“Tenet”) took over this role in the fifth season – and visually came damn close to the original Princess of Hearts.
But even in the fictional world of Netflix’s “The Crown,” time marches on, and in the sixth and final season of the successful series, it is primarily Diana and Charles’ children, i.e. the Queen’s grandchildren (played again in season 6 by Imelda Staunton), that fans are eagerly awaiting. We already know the cast for the new generation of royals – now there are first photos from the set!
ED MCVEY AND MEG BELLAMY IN “THE CROWN “
In the real world, not a day actually goes by without the British royal family posting a photo of Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton (mostly via Twitter). The royal couple is currently at least as important as Prince Charles, who will be crowned king in a few weeks. In the sixth season of “The Crown” we will witness the beginnings of William and Kate’s relationship – at least the fictional version of it.
Actor Ed McVey will play Prince William, who attended St. Andrews University in Scotland in the early 2000s. There he meets his future wife Kate Middleton, played by Meg Bellamy, who is also a student at the university. The sixth season of “The Crown” will be about, among other things, that first meeting and the relationship that develops from it (and is said to be quite turbulent).
Both McVey and Meg Bellamy are true newcomers. So McVey has made first acting experiences on the stages of London and Bellamy has applied with a casting video for the role as Kate – and was selected. We will see how well the actor and actress do their job in the first “The Crown” trailer at the latest.
