John Wick 4: Fourth installment of the action series starring Keanu Reeves as the dreaded hitman.
Plot and background
Keanu Reeves returns to his parade role of recent years. As John Wick, he has already put a stop to countless enemies, avenged the death of his dog in the first part, defied the rules of hitmen in “John Wick 2” and most recently had to restore his reputation in “John Wick 3”.
Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski tell in the exclusive Kino.de interview what we can expect in the fourth part:
“John Wick: Chapter 4” – plot
In the fourth installment of the action series, John Wick will hunt down the High Chamber. After Winston (Ian McShane) and loyal concierge Charon (Lance Reddick) initially had his back, they seemingly killed him to eliminate “the John Wick problem.” However, Wick is not that quick to die. The fallen anti-hero was rescued by the self-proclaimed Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) after he was forced to cede his kingdom to the High Chamber, including several cuts and wounds.
Bruised and driven by rage, Wick will team up with the Bowery King to hunt down members of the High Chamber and their henchmen like the Arbiter (Asia Kate Dillon). Whether they get old acquaintances like Sofia (Halle Berry) on their side in the process remains to be seen. What is certain is that some time will pass between the end of “John Wick 3” and the beginning of “John Wick 4,” during which the action heroes will regenerate their strength and strike back.
“John Wick 4” backgrounds and cast
Since 2014, Keanu Reeves has been thrilling moviegoers at regular intervals as action hero John Wick. The bombastic action is directed by his former stuntman Chad Stahelski, who has been in the director’s chair since the first film. The script for the fourth spin-off is being written by Shay Hatten, who already wrote the direct predecessor “John Wick: Chapter 3” and is also writing the script for the planned spin-off “Ballerina”. The duo is said to have no shortage of ideas. In an interview, Stahelski revealed that the action scenes will be “novel, shocking, funny and unique.”
While Keanu Reeves will once again play the title character, the return of Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick has already been confirmed for the fourth part. Newcomers include Bill Skarsgaard (“ES”), Hiroyuki Sanada (“The Last Samurai”) and martial arts star Donnie Yen (“Ip Man” series).
