ComingSoon is excited to debut the Dances With Films 2023 trailer for the film festival, which is celebrating its 26th year. Dances with Films is running June 22 through July 2 at the iconic TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Produced by Jeffrey Williams, the video features 145 films from the festival’s lineup, which includes over 250 films in total. These span all genres and include narrative features, shorts, docs, music videos, TV pilots, web series, films for and by kids. All of the music in the video was donated by APM Music. Its point is to celebrate the independent filmmaking community and Dances With Films’ mission of bringing the community together to show how important and vital independent film is.

The festival’s opening night film will be Alethea Root’s Good Side of Bad, which premieres on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. PT. It is written by Ciera Danielle, Jules Bruff, and Root and focuses on three adult siblings that “are brought back together after a shocking diagnosis forces them to confront harsh future realities regarding the mental state of one of their own.” It stars Lexi Simonsen, Jules Bruff, Alex Quijano, Myles Grier, and Tess Harper.
Closing the festival on Sunday, July 2 at 7:15 p.m. PT is Home Free, which is directed by Aaron Brown. “In 1997, a group of college stoners invite an unhoused professor to crash on their porch,” says the logline. The movie is written by Lenny Barszap and features Ryan Cownie, John Karna, Jashawn Lee, Annie Fox, Chau Long, Annamarie Kasper, Joe Hart, and Shaun Benson among its cast
