Marie Antoinette, whose real name was Maria Antonia, was forced to leave her home in Vienna in 1770 when she was only 14 years old. In Versailles, the daughter of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria is to marry the heir to the French throne (Louis Cunningham) and thus stabilise the relationship between the two countries.
At the French court, the young woman is not only expected by her husband, who was completely unknown to her before, but also by many complicated rules and customs. And not everyone is favourably disposed towards Marie Antoinette, which she soon comes to feel. But she fights her way through and after Louis XV (James Purefoy) dies in 1774, she and her husband become the new royal couple of France – which, of course, does not make the young noblewoman’s life any easier, but only more difficult. For great responsibility weighs on their shoulders…

Since “Marie Antoinette” has already been released in some countries, there are already critics’ and audiences’ opinions. And according to them, you can definitely take a look at the historical spectacle: At Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ echo is mixed with 60 percent positive reviews, but the audience score is still a strong 88 percent. And at IMDb, the series has been rated with an average of 7.3 out of 10 points.
