Universal Pictures has finally released the official Five Nights at Freddy’s movie trailer for Blumhouse’s long-awaited adaptation of the popular horror video game. The film is scheduled to make its debut on October 27 in theaters and on Peacock.
The video introduces Josh Hutcherson as a cash-strapped security guard who accepts a night-time shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. However, he’ll soon discover that the abandoned entertainment center is overrun by possessed evil animatronics who are out to terrorize him.

What to Expect in Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie?
“The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a blood-chilling cinematic event, as Blumhouse brings Five Nights at Freddy’s to the big screen,” reads the synopsis. “The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.”
Five Nights at Freddy’s is being directed by Emma Tammi from a screenplay she co-wrote with game creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. The adaptation stars Matthew Lillard (Scream), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games films), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy), Mary Stuart Masterson (Some Kind of Wonderful), Elizabeth Lail (You) and Kat Conner Sterling (A Week Away).
Jim Henson’s Creature Shop has signed on to the project to help bring the video game’s horrifying robotic creatures to life. It will be produced by Cawthon and Blum, with Russell Binder serving as an executive producer.
The original Five Nights at Freddy’s game challenges players to survive for five nights as a security guard in a demented pizza entertainment restaurant where homicidal, possessed animatronics roam the halls in search of their next victims. The series went on to garner multiple sequels and spin-offs.
