Fast & Furious 10: Beginning of the end of the action series with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and co.
Plot and background
The action franchise starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster is heading into the home stretch. “Fast & Furious 10” will probably mark the third to last part of the series, as Vin Diesel hinted at during the world premiere in Rome. The earlier announcements have already been solidified: Part 10 and Part 11 of the action series will be shot in one go, so that the cinema releases will be close together.
Initially announced for 2021, the planned cinema release of “Fast and Furious 10” as the supposed conclusion of the series had to be postponed due to the Corona crisis. While “Fast and Furious 9” will be released on 15 July 2021, the cinema start for “Fast and Furious 10” is planned for 18 May 2023. However, the filming had to take a damper: Director Justin Lin dropped out of the project shortly after filming began due to creative differences. Whether this will upset the planned cinema release remains to be seen. Filming was to be coupled with “Fast and Furious 11”, accordingly fans will have to wait until 2023, perhaps even 2024, before the franchise conclusion hits the cinema.
What do the “Fast & Furious” stars prefer to listen to while driving? In our interview they provide you with the answers:
Dedicated fans of the “Fast” saga are already anticipating the end of “Fast & Furious 9” shortly after its cinema release. In the tenth part of the film series, a shadow from the past catches up with Domenic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family. The son of the Brazilian drug lord Reyes, whom the crew successfully took out of action in “Fast & Furious 5”, plans a monstrous vendetta. Young Dante (Jason Momoa) has spent the last twelve years devising a plan to get back at Dom. Moreover, fans may wonder whether the “Fast” leader will bring his feud with Cipher (Charlize Theron) to an end. The hacker already blackmailed Dom in Part 8 and was not entirely uninvolved in the brother feud in Part 9. The last word in the matter has not yet been spoken.
In part 9 Dom also meets his estranged brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena). The brothers haven’t spoken in almost 30 years, but now they at least seem to respect each other. So will Jakob once again act with the family to stop their deadly counterparts once and for all?
“Fast & Furious 10” cast: who returns to the series?
It is certain that Vin Diesel will once again be behind the wheel to drive the “Fast” family to a worthy double finale. Several long-time actors* of the series threatened to quit in the meantime, but sooner or later returned to the set of the “Fast & Furious” films. In addition to Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris has also expressed scepticism about staying with the series in the past. However, both are joining the franchise in the home stretch.
Newly joining the cast is action star Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”), who will oppose the Fast Family. Whether and to what extent he will work together with Charlize Theron’s character Cipher, who gave the Toretto clan a bad time in the last parts, will only become clear in the finished film. Another prominent newcomer is Oscar winner Brie Larson (“Captain Marvel”). Nothing is known about her role yet.
In addition, one can also hope that Jordana Brewster will make another comeback, after her character in “Fast 8” was apparently written out of the series, only to be back in the game in “Fast 9”. Not innocent is the accidental death of Paul Walker, who mimed her film partner Brian. While Walker’s brothers gave his character a worthy as well as costly ending in “Fast & Furious 7”, there have been rumours as to whether Brian will be in “Fast 9” in the finished film. Maybe the makers are saving this for the brilliant finale?
