Ladybug & Cat Noir: Awakening: Animated musical film that takes a closer look at the beginnings of the popular characters from “Miraculous”.
Plot and background
In modern Paris live the two teenagers Marinette Dupain-Cheng (voice: Lydia Morgenstern; vocals: Sarah Engels) and Adrien Agreste (voice: Maximilian Artajo; vocals: Mike Singer). While other kids of the same age already have their hands full with homework, Marinette and Adrien become the respective superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir.
They have been chosen by the guardian of the Miraculous to guard the magical jewels. The Ladybug earrings and the Cat’s ring are the most powerful of the magic jewels. But once equipped with miraculous superpowers, the hunt for evil forces like the nasty Hawk Moth needs to be practised. Every beginning is difficult and so Ladybug and Cat Noir often help each other out of trouble, but they don’t know each other’s true identities. Perhaps it’s better that way, because Marinette has a crush on Adrien, while Cat Noir is smitten with Ladybug.

The popular animated series “Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” has been delighting children worldwide since 2015. Since 2016, the series can be seen here in Germany. In the series, Cat Noir is in love with Ladybug, while Marinette is in love with Adrien. However, they only find out about their feelings for each other much later when they reveal their true identities to each other.
The animated musical film illuminates the beginnings of the popular superhero duo. Attentive viewers were able to experience the beginning of their adventures in the season finale of the first season.

Fans of the popular series will be pleased to know that the standard voice actors around Lydia Morgenstern and Maximilian Artajo will also be used for the feature film. In addition, there is real star power: Sarah Engels sings for Marinette/Ladybug and Mike Singer sings the part for Adrien / Cat Noir.
The German theatrical release date for the “Miraculous” film is 6 July 2023. Jeremy Zag, who was already involved in the main series, is responsible for the direction and screenplay.
